In January 2020, the new semester began with excitement as to what was next for Chinquapin. Along with the recent change in leadership, a new way of highlighting what we do has been brought to the forefront.
Who am I? What am I all about? I am a courageous warrior who began fighting for education at a very young age. Growing up in a loving environment where financial stability was a struggle, education was seen as the one thing that could never be taken away. My daily drive is for others, especially my family. It sounds strange to state that I was born for this, but I was. There’s nothing more important than showing others they matter. It’s as simple as that.
I bravely and boldly meet this opportunity with the passion and poise it takes to show students giving up isn’t an option. I gracefully support faculty and staff to grow into the skill set and grasp the tools they need to give the best of themselves to their students. Being at the helm of Chinquapin does not suddenly change who I am, because it’s never been about me. Chinquapin is my family. I will always show my family that in order for us to grow as a community we must create the spaces where we want each other to live. The only way to do that is to build relationships with a foundation of self- and social awareness to help us be better for and with each other. Chinquapin is the family bond that can never be broken.
