With experience and a little luck, the Chinquapin faculty and staff came together to make a tough situation manageable. Last Wednesday, Director Laura Henry and her staff decided to return all students home that afternoon and cancel classes for Thursday, the day Imelda took hold. Faculty who remained on campus worked together to monitor the campus, relocating furniture, saving supplies, and ensuring everyone’s safety.
This collected effort in the face of challenge — a hallmark of Chinquapin — extends beyond the receding waters, as our community remains flexible to ensure classes continue despite all the roadblocks (literally: I-10 is closed at the San Jacinto River, causing major delays).
Here’s to our Chinquapin family, including our unflappable bus drivers, who are full of grit and determination to see to it we fulfill our mission to every student.
