She’s long been our teacher, dean, college counselor, and role model. Now we’re thrilled to announce that Dr. Dorothy Scrutchin is Chinquapin’s new School Director!
Dr. Scrutchin has been an integral part of Chinquapin for the last 12 years, most recently as our esteemed Head of Middle School. She assumed permanent School Director duties at the beginning of this semester. “Chinquapin is more than a school to me — it’s a family,” says Dr. Scrutchin. “I’m honored to be the new School Director and look forward to working with the extended community to help every student achieve success, in school and out.”
Dr. Scrutchin graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Edward’s University in 2000 with a BS in Business and Management. She received her Masters in Education from the University of St. Thomas in 2012, as well as her Doctor of Education in 2019 from Houston Baptist University. She is married to a Chinquapin alumnus and has two grown children (both of whom attended Chinquapin). “We chose Dr. Scrutchin after an extensive search,” says Chinquapin’s Chairman of the Board Alan Ratliff. “With her strong experience and deep ties to Chinquapin, it was clear to everyone that she has the courage, drive, and creativity needed to lead this unique school.”
